A prominent person in the broadcast industry once said, “You want to work in animation, you’ve got eat, sleep and sh*t animation.”
There’s no denying that you’ve got to work really hard in animation <same is true for any job affected by free market forces>, but I do strongly disagree that ANY work should take up all your time. I believe you are most effective and innovative when you can bring wider contexts into the equation.
The appreciation of these wider contexts cannot be developed overnight. You need a certain amount of passion and practice, just like any specialization. These ‘extra curricular activities’ are what you draw from when you are forced to engage with people outside your own specialization, which is about all the time.
This section comprises a myriad of other interests that continue to connect contexts outside the sphere of animation, entertainment and creative media that are my specialties.
